More Granny Squares, MORE I SAY!

I went through a little granny square frenzy before Christmas but I’m almost okay now. One of my gifts for my sister was a huge scarf. Well.. It was supposed to be a bed cover but at some point I realized I was never going to make that many granny squares before Christmas.

The scarf is 4 x 22 rows I think.. I didn’t count, I just made enough rows so it would fit nicely. I also made it circular cause it seems to be “in” right now.

My sister wouldn’t pose for photos so my easel and chair got to try on the scarf šŸ˜€

Don’t worry, that oil painting has been dry for a long time now. It’s just figuring its place in the world.

Granny Squares

Granny square is an easy and fast crochet project for textile work – class. After learning the crocheting basics you can start a bigger project. A student can design her own work, whether she’ll want a scarf, blanket, pillow… anything goes.

Granny square patterns are all over google, you can do the traditional one or modify it a little. Maybe try a pentagon?

And the color choices… The students will love designing their own squares and adding them together! If you want a class project, maybe you could do a huge blanket and give it to charity.

This is a quick project of mine for a 5-year-old girl.
